Hewlett-Packard has announced HP DataMart Manager, a data warehouse management product designed to improve query performance in small and midsize data warehouses. It is middleware that selects the best summary table for each query, which shortens response times. DataMart Manager also advises the administrator as to which summary tables should be created or deleted, based on usage patterns.
HP DataMart Manager is available for HP-UX 9.x and 10.x, Windows and Windows NT, OS/2 and Macintosh. Pricing begins at $25,000.

Stratus Computer has announced the Continuum Enterprise server, a hardware/software system that supports the Stratus port of Hewlett-Packard's HP-UX operating system technology. Applications that run on HP 9000 enterprise server systems under HP-UX version 10.10 will run on Continuum Enterprise server systems without change. The Continuum Enterprise server is made up of the Continuum series 400 computer, the HP-UX 10.10 operating system and optional layered software, including the HP OpenView network management suite and the HP OpenMail electronic mail package.
The Continuum Enterprise server is compatible with both the HP-UX 10.10 application binary interface (ABI) and the application programming interface (API). Prices range from $70,000 to $250,000.

Hal Computer Systems has announced the Halstation 375 and 385, Sparc-based uniprocessor workstations. The workstations come bundled with Hal's 64-bit operating system, Sparc64/OS 2.4, which supports NFS 3.0, large 64-bit file sizes, Veritas Volume Manager and Jumpstart. Sparc64/OS allows users to run 64-bit applications while maintaining binary compatibility with older 32-bit Solaris applications.

American International Business Technologies has announced Golden Gate, a family of tape storage products. The family includes Exabyte Mammoth drives, as well as the Philips 36x0, Quantum DLT4000 and the Quantum 4700 Auto Cartridge Loader (ACL), which range in capacity from 14GB and 1mbps, to 280GB and 6mbps. Golden Gate products allow peripherals to be shared between two host computers and can perform backups on two different computers at the same time.
