Hall PTR, a unit of Simon & Schuster, and UniForum,
the International Association of Open Systems Professionals, have combined
their resources to create a publishing program that addresses the unique
needs of open systems professionals.
Mission
To provide open systems professionals with useful, timely, and accurate
publications on new and emerging technologies in the most accessible and
easy-to-use format or media.
Focus
IS professionals are faced with strategic and tactical decisions concerning
a wide variety of technologies. UniForum Press publications seek to address
the demand for information that can help them make these critical decisions
and successfully implement new technologies.
Submissions
UniForum Press is currently soliciting proposals that deal with the following
technologies:
- Networking & Communications
- Data Management
- Application Development
- Software Engineering & Software Process
- Computer Systems Technology
- Distributed Systems & System Administration
- The Internet and the World-Wide Web
Preparing Proposals
If you are interested in submitting a proposal for a UniForum Press publication,
we will need the following information:
Brief Description of the Book - describe the scope of the project
in two or three concise paragraphs, including physical specifications (number
of pages, illustrations, etc.).
Target Audience - Carefully define and describe the intended reader.
What technical background or experience is assumed?
Outline - A detailed outline that includes chapter titles and major
subheadings.
Competition - Compare your book to existing publications that deal
with the same technology. Note the strengths and weaknesses of competing
or related books.
Market Potential - Identify the primary customers and quantify market
size if possible. Highlight recent trends or external factors that will
shape the market for your book.
Status & Schedule - Describe the status of the manuscript and
provide a detailed schedule for completing the project.
Suggested Reviewers - Recommend colleagues or recognized experts
who could provide objective feedback related to technical content or market
potential.
